A Receipt for curing Rheumatism

Take 1oz of the Iodide of Potash & divide

it in 3 Equal parts & use 1 part at a time

Put it in a pint Bottle & fill it with

water & as soon as it dissolves it will be

ready for use. Take 1 tablespoonfull (sic) 3 times

a day one hour before eating. Prepare each

part as you need it. Shake before using.

Liniment for Rheumatism

Take a large Pot & fill it with Polk

root & water & Boil it untill (sic) the root

is tender, then take the root out & put

in it a large quantity of red Peper (sic) &

Boil it a little while. then strain it

& continue Boiling it untill (sic) it is Boiled

down to about a ½ pint & then put ½ pt

of comphire (sic) 3 tablespoons of Turpentine Spts

1 tablespoonfull (sic) of Laudanum, 2 tablespoon

fulls (sic) of sweet oil. Mix together well & shake

the Bottle before rubing (sic) with it.
