At Our Cabaña Girl Scout World Center in Cuernavaca, Mexico, a volunteer shows the traditional method for making Piñatas, which are used for every celebration in Mexico. The base is a ceramic jar, which is covered and shaped with papier maché, then decorated with colorful tissue paper and streamers. The piñata is usually filled with peanuts, sweets, and toys, hung from a tree, and hit with a bat or stick until it breaks open and the treats spill out. In this video, we are shown how to fold, cut and glue tissue paper to decorate piñatas in this traditional manner.
