Wild green iguanas are found naturally in southern Mexico, Central America, and most of South America. They usually live in trees and, while they can often appear clumsy, are actually very good climbers. They’re also good swimmers and jumpers.

Iguanas come in a variety of sizes and colors, from dark grey to bright green, and can easily camouflage themselves to avoid predators. They are omnivores, eating a combination of vegetation and small insects. Iguanas are often kept as pets, but even wild ones will sometimes let their curiosity get the best of them and approach non-threatening humans. While they are not an endangered species, Iguanas can be considered at risk, since many of their natural habitats, such as the rainforest, are threatened.
