Gray Catbird Singing
Gray Catbird

The catbird, or Dumetella carolinensis, is named for its mewing cat-like call. Catbirds also mimic the songs of other birds, stringing parts of different songs together into a long, rambling performance. Catbirds can be found throughout much of the United States during the spring and summer, but they winter in the warm coastal regions of the southern United States, Mexico and Central America.

In this video, a gray catbird sings in the underbrush at the Boy Scouts Woods bird sanctuary in High Island, Texas.
