The “Floating Gardens of Xochimilco” are many small, brightly painted and decorated boats floating up and down the river.  Musicians play, men row, and visitors enjoy the scenery. Some families are just going home or on an errand, while for some, the river is the destination. Food is prepared and sold to passengers on some boats, and rides and other souvenirs can be found along the river bank.
