
Art teacher Alisa Ripley traveled with Digital Projects staff to attend a TIDES Partnership
meeting with the Caldwell Zoo curator of education, Linda Kunze.

Art teacher Alisa Ripley traveled with Digital Projects staff to attend the First Friday Art Tour at
the Tyler Museum of Art, which was led by Stephen Vollmer, adjunct curator of Mexican and
Latin American Folk Art. After the tour, Alisa was able to ask Mr. Vollmer about various pieces
of art work in both the Silent Night Holy Night and Mexican Folk Art exhibits. DP staff filmed
these exchanges and they’ll be up in the Virtual Expeditions section of TIDES soon!

Art-based expedition to Mexico. Material gathered from this trip will form the
curriculum for a fifth grade art class focused on bridging the cultural divide present
in one East Texas elementary school, and will serve as the basis for middle and
high school lesson plans.
