The majority of the state’s population works in agriculture, mostly raising corn and cereal grains. Puebla is home to the smallest volcano in the world, Cuexcomate. The state’s capital is the city of Puebla, which was the site of the famous “Cinco de Mayo” battle of 1862, in which Mexico defeated the French army.
