In this creative lesson, students will draw pictures of their bedrooms and then compare their rooms to pictures of the children’s bedrooms in the Sam Houston Memorial Museum Architecture Collection. Students may also single out items they are unfamiliar with and identify these items by interviewing family members and utilizing museum resources on the TIDES website.

Students will organize and interpret information from outlines, reports, databases and visuals including graphs, charts, timelines and maps. TEKS §113.23. Social Studies, Grade 7. (b) (21)(C)

On a sheet of paper, create a drawing of your bedroom. Include furniture, windows, closets, etc. Also include any significant objects of importance such as items used for school, extra curricular activities, hobbies, etc.

Write a paragraph describing your bedroom.
