Begin lesson by having students complete a KWL chart on the Stone Fort.  A KWL chart is an 8”x11” paper divided into three sections.  The K section is what I Already KNOW about the topic, the W section is What I WANT to know about the topic, and the L section is completed after the lesson and stands for What I LEARNED about the topic. Read the list of the different positions the Stone Fort held during its time period.

Have students reasearch the Old Stone Fort article found on the Handbook of Texas Online, which can be found through the TIDES site, to answer questions on the worksheet.  The article can be printed if you wish for your students to have a physical copy.

Grade the Worksheet.
