In September 2005, SFA's Ralph W. Steen Library was awarded an Institute of Museum and Library Services grant in the National Leadership/Advancing Learning Communities category. With these funds, librarians are developing the TIDES Digital Learning Consortium. TIDES offers a bilingual (English and Spanish) digital gateway to rich historical, cultural, and scientific resources held in Texas and Mexican libraries, museums, archives, historical societies, private collections, state parks and wildlife preserves. These resources (photographs, scanned documents and artifacts, video and more) are accompanied by custom-made, standards-based curriculum materials and are freely available to teachers, students and researchers worldwide. Descriptions of digital resources developed by IMLS grantees can be seen at IMLS Digital Collections and Content (http://imlsdcc.grainger.uiuc.edu).
