Student opportunities:

The TIDES project staff welcomes lesson plans created by SFA's Education students. Plans will be selected for inclusion on the project website based upon compliance with state standards, relevance to and integration of TIDES content, and overall quality.

In addition, student workers in the library's Digital Projects Division have the opportunity to work on various aspects of the TIDES project:

  • Translating documents into English and/or Spanish
  • Creating written and oral transcripts
  • Developing virtual field trips
  • Image and video editing
  • Website development and graphic design
  • Scanning, photography and videography
Curriculum Development Team:

In July 2007, a select group of teachers from Texas and Mexico met at SFA to learn about the TIDES project, and began collaborating to create curriculum materials for the project website. SFA faculty, staff and students were welcome to take advantage of this opportunity (see members of current and past teams here).

Ongoing TIDES projects provide opportunities for educators to get involved by offering input, contributing lesson plans to be published on the site, and in some cases, accompanying the department on local and international expeditions. To keep up to date with upcoming projects and opportunities, join the TIDES listserv or read the TIDES blog.
